Installing echosounders in cages

STEP 5: Duo echosounder

The Duo-echosounders are assembled together with everything you need for the installation on cage. When carrying the Duo-echosounders to the cage, carefully place it on the walkway so that the ropes comes up on top. This can be identified/confirmed by finding the elastic ropes, that are on the end of this rope.
Find the end of the Main Rope, and pull it through both of the white plastic-rings that are attached to 6m elastic ropes. Tie the main rope to the handrail.
Pull the Main Rope to the opposite side of the cage with the elastic ropes.
Tie both elastic ropes to the hand rail, we recommend using three vertical posts between the knots. Recommended knot: Round Turn and Two Half Hitches (En runde og to halvstikk)
Pull the slack, until you achieve direct contact with the floater.
Identify the bottom echosounder and its cable.
1. Verify that the cable is “free” and ready for release into the cage
2. Drop the Bottom echosounder.
3. Wait till all cable is out, and has direct contact with the Top echosounder.

Deploy the Floater and the Top echosounder to the cage.
Verify that nothing is entangled once deployed
1. Top echosounder should hand vertically and directly below floater
2. Make sure no cables/ropes are tangled around the echosounder, float, or between them.

Connect echosounder cables to the Cage Cabinet.
1. Use the Cable Clamp to secure some slack on the inside of the cabinet so that they do not break if yanked.
Use Quick-straps (Hurtigstropp) to secure the remaining coils on cables and ropes to the handrail.
1. We want to separate different cables and ropes visually and physically.
2. Make sure no cable or rope is touching the walkway
3. Make it look nice and intuitive for the next person who needs to service with the system.
Verify connection
1. with two echosounders (Two blue cables on top of the CPU in pic below)
2. with Network (Red cable in bottom on the CPU in pic below)
